I want jasoncharity.co.uk to be usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities. This statement explains the accessibility of the site, what is and isn’t working well, and how to tell me if something is wrong.

Conformance

The site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. I recognise that full conformance takes ongoing work, and some content may not yet fully meet the standard.

What should work well

  • text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content;
  • colours have been chosen to meet AA contrast ratios against the site’s dark navy background;
  • the site can be navigated using a keyboard, and interactive elements have visible focus styles;
  • images have descriptive alternative text, or are marked as decorative where appropriate;
  • the site is responsive and works on phones, tablets, and desktops;
  • the site respects your operating system’s reduced-motion preference for animations.

Known issues

I am working to identify and fix accessibility issues. Known areas I am reviewing include:

  • some decorative motion (floating elements, tilt effects) may still be visible when reduced-motion is set — I am auditing these;
  • some older news article links on the home page open external sites I do not control and whose accessibility varies;
  • a small number of embedded images may lack extended descriptions for complex content.

If you find a problem that isn’t listed here, please let me know.

Reporting accessibility problems

If you have trouble using any part of this site, please email admin@jasoncharity.co.uk. Tell me the page address, what you were trying to do, and what went wrong. I’ll aim to respond within ten working days and will try to fix the problem or provide the information you need in a different format.

How this site is built

The site is built with Next.js and Tailwind CSS, uses semantic HTML, and is tested with keyboard navigation, automated accessibility checks, and screen-reader spot checks. It is reviewed on an ongoing basis.

Enforcement

This site is run in a personal and political capacity and is not a public-sector body under the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. Those regulations do not apply here. I have chosen to publish this statement voluntarily because accessibility matters.
